Select PT Organics Limited fruit puree pouches were recalled due to the potential presence of soft plastic.
The Oregon-based company has voluntarily recalled select Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry 4 oz. (113 g) pouches due to an “internal packaging defect,” which can result in the presence of “a strand of soft, food-grade plastic in the finished product,” a Tuesday, July 21, notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) states.
The voluntary recall was initiated after PT Organics Limited’s packaging supplier recalled a production run of defective pouches last week.
The company states on its website that “the defect has the potential to result in a thin, soft strand of the inner pouch material becoming detached, and leaving the pouch when squeezed.”
“Our packaging supplier has conducted a thorough internal investigation and determined that the problem only affected one production run, on one line, and that the fault was an intermittent fault in pouches made on one of 4 lanes,” states PT Organics Limited on its website.
“This is the first of its type in 20 years serving our customers and we applaud them for acting quickly to notify us once they had identified a problem and recalling the affected production lot,” the statement said.
The recalled pouches were sold exclusively at Kroger, Meijer and Target stores nationwide between 03/06/2026 and 07/13/2026.
To determine whether you purchased a recalled package, the company advises checking the codes printed in black ink on the back of the pouch.
Recalled packages have a barcode of 8 15367 01078 0 and a lane number of 4 printed on the rear right-hand side seam.
They should also show a best-before date of 01/19/2027, 01/20/2027, 03/17/2027, 03/18/2027, 05/14/2027 or 05/15/2027.
PT Organics Limited is “removing potentially affected pouches from the marketplace, working with retailers and our packaging supplier, and sharing information with consumers so they can identify the product and know exactly what to do,” the company said in a statement on its website.
The company also vowed to “continue to provide clear updates and support to consumers, retailers, and regulators” as they “work to understand what went wrong and make sure it cannot happen again.”
No other Pumpkin Tree branded products, best-before dates, or flavors are affected by this recall.

While no injuries have been reported yet, consumers who possess a recalled product should dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase immediately.
