Three neighbouring schools in Surrey were put in temporary lockdown following reports of a person armed with a weapon nearby, police have said.
Three Rivers Academy, Three Rivers Primary School and Toad Hall Nursery in Hersham were all affected after armed officers were called to Bell Farm Way at about 15:00 BT on Tuesday.
Two 18-year-old men were arrested and placed in police custody. The lockdown was later lifted, and students were allowed to go home.
Surrey Police said that the temporary lockdown was a precaution to safeguard staff and students while initial inquiries were carried out.
Three Rivers Primary School and Toad Hall Nursery implemented their own safeguarding procedures after communication with Three Rivers Academy, the force added.
Elmbridge Borough Cdr Insp Chris Thoday said: "We take any report of this nature extremely seriously and had officers at the scene within minutes.
"We fully understand how concerning incidents like this are for our community and our investigation into the circumstances continues."
