The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 has arrived as a new flip foldable from the company. This smartphone is very similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 7. It is more powerful, though, of course, plus it has some other improvements, of course. The design, however, did not change much at all, as expected.
In this article, we’ll talk a lot more about the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and what it brings to the table. First, we’ll list its specs, following which we’ll talk about the price, where you can buy it, what colors the phone comes in, what upgrades it brings over the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, and so on. There’s plenty to go over, so let’s get to it.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 specs
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 will not only look like its predecessor, but it’ll share many of the internals as well. There will be some changes, though, of course. The new phone is fueled by either the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy or the Exynos 2600 processor. It all depends on where you buy it. In the US, Qualcomm’s chip is used. Regardless of the chip, Samsung is using 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM here, while there are two storage options for this phone: 256GB and 512GB. Do note that the storage is not expandable.
It has two 120Hz displays
There is a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel included here, which is the foldable panel. It offers a refresh rate of up to 120Hz (1-120Hz). The cover panel is a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED display with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate (60-120Hz). When it comes to the battery, Samsung opted for a 4,300mAh unit here, while the phone supports 25W wired charging. 15W wireless charging is also supported, and the same goes for Wireless Power Share (reverse wireless charging).
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is IP48 certified for water resistance. Android 17 comes pre-installed, while Samsung’s One UI 7 skin is included on top. The phone is also equipped with Bluetooth 5.4, along with Wi-Fi 7. It comes in Cream, Graphite, and Pink colors. In addition to those three standard colors, the company is also offering an online-exclusive Mint color.
Cameras are still not particularly impressive
There are two cameras on the back of the phone. A 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.8 aperture, OIS, 85-degree FoV) is backed by a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit (f/2.2 aperture, 123-degree FoV). On the front (main display), sits a 10-megapixel selfie snapper (f/2.2 aperture, 85-degree FoV). The device weighs 180 grams, and it measures 166.9 x 75.4 x 6.1mm when unfolded. When it’s folded, its height goes down to 85.7mm, and its thickness up to 13.1mm.

What new upgrades does the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 have over the Galaxy Z Fold 7?
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is extremely similar to its predecessor. It looks basically the same, while the internals are not that much different either. There are some improvements on the new model, though. Let’s talk about those.
Thinner and lighter
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is not much thinner and much lighter than its predecessor, but the improvements are there. This phone is 13.1mm thick when folded, and 6.1mm when unfolded. That’s a slight improvement over the 13.7mm and 6.7mm thickness of the Flip 7. The phone is also slightly lighter at 180 grams, compared to 188 grams of the Flip 7.
New FlexWindow
The new FlexWindow features bring apps, insights, and actions to the cover screen. It will help you access even more information.

Brand new chip
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor fuels the phone. That’s an overclocked version of Qualcomm’s most powerful chip. It is backed by 12GB of RAM inside of this smartphone.
One UI 9
One UI 9 is Samsung’s very own Android skin. It’s placed on top of Android 17 here, and it’s a refinement of One UI 8 that was already a great piece of software.

Should I buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8?
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is extremely similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 7, we’d even say it’s too similar. The changes that Samsung made this time around are minimal, and this represents the least of an upgrade out of all the foldables Samsung announced this year. We would not recommend upgrading from the Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the same can be said for the Galaxy Z Flip 6. There’s simply not much new that this phone offers that’s worth spending that much money.
