Roger Clemens makes 2026 World Series prediction

Roger Clemens won two World Series titles with the New York Yankees, and he made a bold prediction about his former team this season.

The Yankees defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 on Sunday in the Bronx, and Clemens said that will be this year’s World Series matchup.

“That was a great win for them, I still think the Yankees are going to win the East,” Clemens said during the NBC broadcast on Sunday. “You’re going to see these two teams matching up again [in October]. And I guess, Jazz [Chisholm] is going to be wearing those new ankle-biters, those new pinstripes he’s got on.”

The Dodgers and Yankees have met in the World Series 12 times, with most of those coming in the 1940s and 1950s.

These two teams met in the 2024 World Series with the Dodgers winning in five games. Last postseason, the Yankees lost to the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS, and the Blue Jays lost to the Dodgers in the World Series in seven games.

The Dodgers had the best record in baseball going into the All-Star break, and they even achieved a milestone not seen in 50 years.

The Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays have been battling for the best record in the American League, but New York remains 1.5 games out of first place entering Monday.

New York and LA won’t face off again during the regular season, although there is a very realistic chance that Roger Clemens’ prediction comes true.
