Miami Dolphins Retired Rookie Le’Veon Moss Arrested After Two-Year-Old Son Shoots Himself

On Monday night, Former Miami Dolphins running back Le’Veon Moss, 23, rushed his two-year-old son to Our Lady of the Lake’s Children Hospital due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Arrest reports confirm that Moss’ two-year-old son shot himself after finding a gun he kept underneath his pillow, while sleeping in his bed. His son accidentally fired a single shot. Moss was sleeping prior to the gunshot, according to police reports.

It is currently unknown the extent of the child’s injury and where the gunshot wound was located.

The affidavit said “due to Moss’ negligence, a child under the age of seventeen suffered unjustifiable pain.” He was arrested Monday.

Moss’ bond is currently set to $25,000, per Fox West Texas.

While the severity of this arrest is significant and tragic, this is not Moss’ first time getting arrested. On July 13 2025, Moss was arrested by College Station Police Sunday morning on a charge of disorderly conduct, after threatening to assault an unidentified man.

He was released later that day after posting a $300 personal bond. During the time of his arrest, Moss was a running back for Texas A&M football heading into his senior season.

Le’Veon Moss Retires From NFL Before Rookie Season

On May 12, the Miami Dolphins placed undrafted free agent running back Le’Veon Moss on the reserve/retired list, four days after officially signing with the organization.

While Moss wasn’t a top prospect, his retirement comes as a surprise. The Dolphins had several roster spots open before signing the RB and limited draft capital.

Before declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft, Moss spent four seasons at Texas A&M.

In 32 games across four seasons, Moss had 1767 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns.

The Miami Dolphins have yet to make a statement or comment on Moss’ arrest.
