Redwire (RDW) said it will expand its Huntsville, Alabama, campus by 164,000 square feet (0.02 square kilometers), increasing manufacturing and engineering capacity for aerospace and defense products.
The expansion was announced during the Farnborough International Airshow, where aerospace and defense companies traditionally unveil new products, partnerships and investment plans. For investors, the biennial event is an important gauge of industry demand, manufacturing expansion and defense spending trends as companies position themselves for future growth.
Expansion targets defense and space production
Redwire said the larger campus will support production of its Stalker unmanned aircraft systems, Octopus gimbal payloads, advanced energy systems and space technologies used in commercial and national security programs.
The company said construction has already begun and expects the project to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2027.
The expansion will increase Redwire's (RDW) manufacturing and engineering footprint in Huntsville, a city that has become a major hub for the U.S. aerospace and defense industry.
Incentives support project
The project is supported by about $8.5 million in eligible state and local economic development incentives, according to Redwire.
The company expects the expansion to create about 150 jobs in engineering, manufacturing, systems integration and technical operations.
Redwire (RDW) said the additional capacity is intended to strengthen domestic production and supply chains for aerospace and defense technologies. It did not disclose the total cost of the expansion beyond the public incentive package.
