Qatar bans injectable exosome products for safety reasons

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has prohibited the use of exosome-containing products via injection for both medical and cosmetic purposes, citing concerns over patient safety and the lack of scientific evidence supporting their use. According to a circular issued by the Ministry's Pharmacy and Drug Control Department on July 19, authorities observed that exosome products were being promoted for injectable use despite having no regulatory approval.

The Ministry clarified that: No exosome product has been approved for injectable use in Qatar for either medical or cosmetic applications. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also not approved any exosome product for injection. Any authorised exosome products are intended for external (topical) use only. MoPH has strictly prohibited: Administering exosome products through injections. Promoting injectable exosome therapies with unapproved medical or cosmetic claims. Using exosome products beyond their authorised topical applications. The Ministry said the safety and effectiveness of injectable exosome products have not been scientifically established and warned that their use may pose health risks. It also cautioned that individuals or organisations violating the directive could face regulatory and legal action under Qatar's applicable laws.
