Play-Doh just turned this 'grandma hobby' into summer's most nostalgic DIY craft

These Play-Doh Flowers are Fragrant and Wilt-Free
Want to buy flowers that'll last forever? Play-Doh's new adult-friendly set, Blooms, will deliver. These flower kits are going viral for their smell and look.

Stop and smell the (faux) roses...

Summer is in full bloom, and if you want to bring the great outdoors inside, some fresh flowers can go a long way. But here’s the catch: Those zinnias and hydrangeas won’t last forever. You could replace your bouquet the moment your flowers start to wilt—which can get expensive—or you could reach for a Blooms by Play-Doh Kit.

Yes, Play-Doh. You’re not the only one who hasn’t thought about the colorful clay in decades. Though Play-Doh once offered a seemingly endless creative outlet, it’s child’s play, right? Well, not quite. Hasbro specifically designed this line for adults, offering that child-like creativity through a sophisticated, grown-up lens.

Each comes with everything you need to craft a beautiful bouquet: A vase, multi-purpose tools to shape leaves and petals, and, of course, Play-Doh. Simply roll, cut, and press the clay to your heart’s desire—and wind up some pretty faux flowers in no time. With a bunch of arrangements to choose from, ranging from roses to wildflowers, it’s possible to find a beautiful bouquet to match your space.

If you ask Madeline Scalzi of Tulips for the Table, who recently tested out this kit, Blooms by Play-Doh has more to offer than good looks. “In an age where we are all on our phones entirely too much (myself included!), this tactile, creative and engaging toy brings refined whimsy to a nostalgic childhood pastime,” she says. “I love that not only is the Blooms kit a fun activity, but the final result looks like something I would actually want to display in my house.”

Bonus points: According to Scalzi, the clay actually smells like fresh blooms—not that nostalgic aroma everyone associates with Play-Doh.

While fresh flowers are undeniably gorgeous, they’re not exactly cheap. Depending on where you shop, you could wind up spending anywhere from a few bucks to $20 on a single bouquet. On the flip side, a Blooms by Play-Doh kit starts at $25, so you’re paying about the same amount for a bouquet that’ll last all summer long. If you end up running out of clay, you can also buy a refill pack for $5, which is still cheaper than those bodega blooms.

And we can’t stress this enough: Not only is this floral arrangement affordable, fragrant, and wilt-free, but it’s also fun. If you ask us, a cute activity that’s adult-friendly and inner-child-approved is priceless.
