A seemingly unremarkable photograph from 1941 has ignited fierce debate online, with some questioning whether it provides evidence of time travel.
The snapshot, taken by photographer Edward Rosskam on Chicago's South Side, depicts a line of well-dressed young people waiting outside a movie theater.
The fascination, however, focuses on one boy positioned at the photograph's edge. Sharp-eyed social media users are adamant that the youth appears to be clutching an iPad while standing in line for a screening.
On Reddit's timetravelerscaught community, one person said: "iPad carrying movie goer, all the way to the right." It comes after time travel was 'exposed' after Elvis Presley fans spotted something bizarre in a 1977 concert photo.

However, not everyone's buying into the time-travel hypothesis.
Skeptical voices in the digital discussion argue that the object in the boy's hands is far more likely a simple notebook, with one saying: "Looks like a book to me."
Providing historical context about movie theater customs, another contributor explained: "Back in the day of early film, ushers scanned the audience for pens and notepads as to prevent bootleg recreations of the film."
One commenter highlighted the absurdity of the theory, posting: "If I can time travel, have an iPad and I'm black why in God's name would I go to the South Side of Chicago in 1941 to watch a matinee of 'The Aldrich Family'? !".
Meanwhile, some used the opportunity to wax nostalgic about bygone eras, with one person noting the clothing visible in the image: "They all are dressed so nicely. To wear your Sunday best to see the movies, it must have been a fantastic treat."
One viewer added: "Part of me wishes we would all dress up like that for the little things, and then I debate if I am even going to shower today."
