OpenAI (OPENAI) has launched a new initiative aimed at giving small business owners AI tools to help improve and manage their operations.
The ChatGPT for small businesses program is part of OpenAI's recently released ChatGPT Work, but tailored for small shops rather than enterprises.
"With a lean team, limited time, and few resources, every owner is expected to be the marketer, accountant, salesperson, operator, and strategist all-in-one," OpenAI said. "We believe AI can change that by being a force multiplier that extends individual expertise, increases capacity, and gives everyone access to world-class tools they need to achieve their greatest ambitions."
The program features virtual training, in-person small business AI academies, interactive guides for starting up, and new agents and partners curated for small business needs. Small business owners interested in the program can sign up here.
ChatGPT Work is powered by GPT-5.6.
"Technology allows small businesses to be more competitive in today's fast-paced economy," according to the U.S. Small Business Administration. "The federal government has adopted artificial intelligence as a way to help them better serve the public. As a small business owner, AI can help your small business do more with less."
Small and medium-sized businesses, or SMBs, have quickly adopted AI tools. According to a recent study by Techaisle, 96% of SMBs are acting on AI, but about half of those face challenges due to data quality and cybersecurity issues. About 35% of SMBs already rely on generative AI as their primary research tool.
