Will the New York Jets snap the the longest active playoff drought across the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB — next season?
Probably not! But they’ll look awesome while trying.
On Tuesday, July 21, the Jets unveiled their brand-new “White Out” alternative helmets for the 2026 NFL season:
Running back Breece Hall, quarterback Geno Smith, offensive lineman Olu Fashanu, linebacker Kiko Mauigoa, cornerback Brandon Stephens, safety Andre Cisco, wide receiver Isaiah Williams, and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell feature in the promotional video. At the end, it’s revealed that the Jets’ 2026 home opener against the Green Bay Packers will be a “White Out” on Sept. 20.
“New York adopted its ‘Sack Exchange’ uniforms full time in 2024,” ESPN relayed. “The Jets’ new helmets have the same color scheme as their updated ‘Legacy White’ uniforms and feature a modernized version of the logo the team used from 1978 to 1997. They’ll combine the two to create a sleek white look in Week 2. The Jets also have ‘Legacy Green’ and ‘Legacy Black’ uniforms, enabling them to create three monochrome looks.”
According to popular uniform pundit Zach Cohen, the NFL allows each team to have three helmet shells, meaning the base color, so with green, white, and black, the Jets are in compliance with that rule despite having five different helmets now.
As aforementioned, the Jets have not reached the playoffs since the 2010 season. Last season, New York finished with a 3-14 record, tied for the worst mark in the NFL. The silver lining for Jets fans is they can theoretically only go up from there.
The Jets will open their 2026 regular season against the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, on Sunday, Sept. 13.
