KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — A new Amazon warehouse will be constructed in King of Prussia over the coming years after the Upper Merion Township Board of Supervisors approved a project proposal last week.
The "last mile" warehouse will be at 760 Moore Road. The current facility at that location, a nearly 100,000 square foot building, will be demolished.
Some had been skeptical about traffic impacts in the dense King of Prussia area, which is already threatened with expansion from a proposed massive data center cluster. But Supervisor Greg Waks said that the impacts from this project would be minimized.
"Most of the traffic generated by this facility will be during non-rush hours," Waks said.
The new building will be smaller than the current facility on Moore Road. It will also include a fully overhauled stormwater management system.
Construction plans call for Amazon to build a trail and sidewalk along Moore Road and Valley Forge Road, which will ultimately help connect the Schuylkill River Trail to nearby First Avenue.
A new traffic light to handle the area's congestion is also expected to be installed at Mancill Mill Road and Valley Forge Road, though that will be handled by the nearby townhouse community, not Amazon, Waks said.
The project will not be completed for 18-24 months, meaning officials are targeting a Jan. 2028 to June 2028 timeline.
It's the second major announcement regarding industrial expansion in Montgomery County over the past week, as a massive new warehouse is also planned in Limerick Township.
