NebiusNBIS stock popped on Tuesday after NvidiaNVDA disclosed a 9% stake in the cloud computing specialist in a regulatory filing. Nebius shares had advanced 118% in 2026 as of Monday's market close, but have pulled back sharply since mid-June along with other artificial intelligence infrastructure stocks.
Nvidia, a maker of artificial intelligence accelerator chips, also is an investor in Nebius rival CoreWeaveCRWV. Nebius, CoreWeave and other cloud infrastructure startups rent Nvidia-chip equipped computer servers mainly to artificial intelligence model builders as well as app developers. Nebius data centers are designed from scratch for crunching AI workloads.
On the stock market today, Nebius stock jumped over 7% to 196.25. CoreWeave stock rose over 4% to 76.14. CoreWeave stock has climbed 2% this year.
Shares in both CoreWeave and Nebius have retreated amid Meta Platform'sMETA announcement that it will sell excess cloud computing capacity. That has raised questions over whether Meta will follow through on some of its AI data center plans. Further, "tokenmaxxing" is a new buzzword in the tech industry as companies scramble to rein in soaring AI cloud computing bills.
Meanwhile, Nebius and CoreWeave report earnings in mid-August.
While some analysts project a big AI market opportunity for Nebius and similar companies, others fret about customer concentration and high debt. Nebius provides artificial intelligence infrastructure to customers such as MicrosoftMSFT.
In addition, Nebius recently closed its acquisition of AI software maker Eigen AI for about $643 million in cash and stock.
