Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin on Tuesday warned that the number of non-citizens registered to vote in New Jersey could be much higher than the 6,660 to which Gov. Mikie Sherrill, D-N.J., admitted on Tuesday.
Sherrill confirmed that a software glitch had led to the erroneous registration of non-citizens who confirmed they were not citizens while applying for driver's licenses.
Mullin responded to Sherrill's announcement, by offering to work with Sherrill to secure statewide elections.
"Just ONE illegal vote cancels out the vote of a U.S. citizen. As [DHS] reported last week-New Jersey could have as many as 35,152 potential non-citizens registered to vote," he posted on X. "Looking forward to working with you to secure your elections in the future."
President Donald Trump on Thursday unveiled the results of a declassification task force, which found that China had obtained 220 million voter registration files and that voting machines were vulnerable to foreign manipulation.
He also revealed that DHS had identified 278,000 non-citizens registered to vote in cooperative states.
