WASHINGTON, DC: Former Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene dramatically escalated her criticism of the Trump administration's handling of the Iran conflict on Tuesday, July 21, accusing unnamed senior officials of backing the war because they harbor presidential ambitions.

In a lengthy social media post, Greene argued that the administration has repeatedly misled Americans about Iran's military capabilities and warned that officials she believes are positioning themselves for future White House bids would ultimately be judged by voters for supporting the conflict.

The remarks mark one of Greene's sharpest attacks yet, not just on US policy toward Iran, but on influential figures inside President Donald Trump's own administration, highlighting growing Republican tensions over the expanding Middle East crisis.

Greene targets White House hopefuls

Without naming any officials, Greene suggested that members of Trump's administration are defending the Iran campaign not out of conviction but because they believe doing so will strengthen future presidential campaigns.

"Oh you have presidential aspirations do you?" Greene wrote before warning that those eyeing the White House should "start acting like an adult instead of a clown" and publicly oppose what she described as an unpopular war. She argued that "no one in the admin or the party gets a pass," insisting every official who supports or remains silent about the conflict shares responsibility.

Greene also claimed the administration had falsely portrayed Iran's military as weakened, pointing to continued Iranian missile strikes against US forces as evidence the public was being misled. "Others in the admin are lying and others are silent, which makes them equally responsible," she wrote.

Republican divide grows deeper

Greene's latest remarks broaden the debate beyond President Trump himself, placing senior administration officials under scrutiny as speculation continues over who could emerge as future Republican presidential contenders. By tying support for the Iran campaign to political ambition, Greene introduced a new line of attack into an already contentious debate over the administration's foreign policy.

She warned that officials backing the conflict would carry the political consequences long after the fighting ends, arguing they would be remembered for the deaths of civilians and US service members if the war continued. Greene further claimed Americans oppose the conflict and said those defending it would eventually face voters once Trump leaves office.

Her comments underscore an increasingly visible split within Republican ranks over the administration's Iran strategy, with some conservatives questioning deeper US involvement while others continue to defend the White House's national security approach. As the conflict intensifies, Greene's broadside signals that disagreements over Iran are evolving into a wider battle over the Republican Party's future leadership and direction.

Murdoch paper torches Trump’s ‘raw vindictiveness’

The editorial board of Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal has called out President Donald Trump, 80, for his treatment of a former adviser, saying his behavior smacks of “raw vindictiveness.” John Bolton, who was Trump’s national security adviser in his first term, has long been on a list of Americans targeted for assassination by Iran, the Journal said. As tensions escalate between the United States and Iran, Trump has repeatedly talked about...
