Miss Universe contestant Wualys Fuentes Aquino has been found dead in her apartment at the age of 23.
Fuentes Aquino was discovered lifeless on July 20 by worried relatives who had not heard from her for several days.
Her cause of death is still unknown. Officials have not ruled out foul play or natural causes and the investigation is still ongoing.
The young model and student recently finished runner-up in the Miss Universe Tegucigalpa 2026 pageant.
She came second behind eventual winner Luciana Núñez, as reported by NeedToKnow.
In addition to her pageant career, Fuentes Aquino studied International Marketing and Social Work at the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH).
She was considered a rising star in her home country and often shared her love of travel on social media.
The Miss Universe Tegucigalpa organization described her as supportive, kind and committed and praised her talent, charisma and supportive nature towards fellow contestants.
Fuentes Aquino's final social media posts are now being remembered with sadness by those who knew her.
Her last upload was on Saturday and featured her modeling in a slew of black and white shots.
'Between HAVING and BEING, choose BEING,' she captioned the post. 'Essence has VALUE; things have a price.
'Anyone can have what you have, but NO ONE can be who you are.'
The news comes two days after it was revealed that former Miss Universe Jamaica finalist LaToya Malcolm had died at age 35.
The beauty queen's death was announced by the organization.
'We are deeply saddened by the passing of Miss Universe Jamaica alumna LaToya Malcolm, who proudly competed in the 2024 Miss Universe Jamaica competition,' the Miss Universe Jamaica account wrote on Instagram on Saturday.
'Our heartfelt condolences are with her family, friends and loved ones. Rest peacefully, LaToya, you will never be forgotten.'
A cause of death for Malcolm has not yet been revealed.
In addition to competing in the 2024 Miss Universe Jamaica pageant - which ultimately saw Rachel Silvera crowned as the winner - Malcolm also won the title of Miss Jamaica Bikini International in 2024.
She was described as an 'actress and entertainer with over a decade of experience in the entertainment industry' by the organization.
In addition, she worked as a dance instructor and TV host, per her Instagram bio.
