Mercedes has updated its flagship Maybach GLS luxury SUV with styling, powertrain and technology updates.
One of the most luxurious SUVs on the market, the Maybach GLS is designed to rival the likes of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Bentley Bentayga.
This revised model gains a new illuminated front radiator grille and Maybach badging, as well as rose gold double-star digital LED headlights. There are 22-inch alloy wheels, while optional 23-inch forged wheels are available with centre-mounted three-pointed star wheel caps that remain perfectly upright at all times.
At the back, there is a redesigned tailgate and new taillights with 3D chrome star motifs built into their construction.
Inside, there is new optional Nappa leather upholstery in Beech Brown over Macchiato Beige, while back-seat passengers can enjoy watching films on dual 11.6-inch HD displays with newly revised remote controls. This gives passengers access to control the rear climate control functions, privacy blinds and rear entertainment displays.
Under the bonnet, the GLS now comes with a revised 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine that boasts 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. It produces 603bhp and 850Nm of torque, while riding on a Mercedes’ ‘new AirMatic’ suspension, which comes with predictive damping to improve the ride comfort for rear passengers.
Furthermore, the GLS can be specced with ‘E-Active Body Control’ which uses 20 sensors and processors that reacts to driving situations 1,000 times per second. It individually controls the car’s springs and damping force to eliminate pitch, roll and lift in the corners to provide an even more stable and comfortable driving experience.
Mercedes has not revealed prices and UK specifications for the Maybach GLS at this stage.
