Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Damon (previously Luciana Barroso), have been married for two decades. But unlike many Hollywood love stories, theirs didn’t begin on a movie set. The couple first met in 2003 at a Miami bar, where Luciana was working as a bartender, and Matt stopped in with his set crew after a day of filming Stuck On You.
More than 20 years later, the two are married, share three children (the actor is also a stepfather to Luciana’s daughter from a previous relationship), have collaborated on film projects, and regularly appear together on red carpets. Most recently, Luciana has been by Matt’s side throughout the press tour for his latest film, The Odyssey.

She’s from Argentina.
Luciana Bozán was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She later relocated to Miami, Florida, where she would eventually meet her future husband.
She met Matt while bartending in Miami.
Luciana and Matt first crossed paths in 2003 at a bar in Miami Beach, where she was working as a bartender. The actor had stopped in with the crew from Stuck on You, which he was filming nearby. Recalling their first meeting during a 2011 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Matt said, “I literally saw her across a crowded room, literally. Eight years and four kids later, that’s my life. I don’t know how else our paths would’ve crossed if that didn’t happen.”
Luciana later shared her side of the story in a rare 2018 interview with Vogue Australia. “Matt’s story is that he saw me across the room and there was a light on me,” she joked. “And I’m like: ‘Yeah, it was a nightclub—there were lights everywhere!'”
As the bar filled with fans trying to hound Matt for photos and autographs, he hid out behind the bar, hoping to share a drink with Luciana. “He says ‘Oh, I saw you and I really wanted to talk to you.’ I said, ‘If you’re going to be back here, you can’t just be standing there!’” she recalled. Luciana put Matt—who had trained as a bartender for a previous film role—to work. He made drinks and helped her earn “a ton of money in tips,” because everyone wanted to see him. “So it turned into a really fun night and then 15 years later here we are,” she added.
At the time, Luciana was raising her four-year-old daughter, Alexia, as a single mother, so she declined Matt’s invitation to continue the night out with his friends. “I was like, ‘I can’t. I have a four-year-old daughter. I’m not going anywhere,’” she told Vogue Australia. Rather than seeing it as a complication, Matt admired that being a mom was her priority. “That was one of the things he loved,” she said. “Some guys might have been different... but for him it wasn’t.”
They married in 2005.
After two years of dating, Luciana and Matt married in December 2005 in a private ceremony at New York City Hall. Not much is known about the actual wedding, but the actor reflected on his marriage in a recent interview with People while promoting The Odyssey.
“There’s a lot of love and respect underneath the relationship, and a lot of trust,” he said. “It’s built on a very sturdy foundation. We continue to grow and evolve as people, and so that foundation’s really everything.”
“It’s the greatest thing in my life,” he added of their marriage.
She’s the mom of four daughters.
When Luciana met Matt, she had a four-year-old daughter, Alexia Barroso, from her previous relationship. The actor happily stepped into a stepfather role, and the couple went on to have three daughters together after tying the knot. They welcomed daughter Isabella Damon on June 11, 2006, daughter Gia Damon on August 20, 2008, and their youngest, Stella Damon, on October 20, 2010. All four of their daughters have joined them on red carpets over the years.
She’s worked as a producer on several films.
After years of contributing behind the scenes, Luciana officially added “producer” to her resumé. She served as an executive producer on Matt’s 2024 film The Instigators and as a producer on the 2026 thriller The Rip.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight in 2024, Matt said the producing credit was long overdue. “She’s been reading every script and watching every cut of every movie for 21 years. This is the first time we ever kind of codified it,” he said.
According to Matt, Luciana was initially reluctant to take the title despite her work on the film. “She didn’t even want to take the credit,” he said. “She was there every day, she was doing all this work on the script, and then she was like, ‘Nah, I don’t want to take the credit.’”
He added, “The other producers on the movie... came of their own volition [and said], ‘If you’re not taking credit, we’re not taking credit.’ It was very sweet. She succumbed and took the credit.”
