Marvel Rivals: How to play Jubilee

Marvel Rivals: How to Play Jubilee

A guide to playing the newest hero, Jubilee, in Marvel Rivals.

Marvel Rivals has a smattering of heroes to play as, and with the most recent addition to the roster, the game has become a bit complicated. Jubilee is a strategist, but she's got a bit of a twist to her.

Just like most hero shooters, Rivals has a lot on offer to help you learn a hero, and while they can provide some helpful hints, they don't give you the big picture. Jubilee, especially, has this problem as she's got a fairly complex kit.

This guide will tell you a bit about how she works and how to find success with her in various situations. These are just some tips and tricks to give you an idea of how to play her, but doing things your own way is always the better plan.

Jubilee Overview

Jubilee is a complicated hero in her design, which is a little similar to Gambit's design, in that they can both do healing and damage with their abilities. She's not super similar to many other characters from other hero shooters that I've seen.

She has the ability to increase her own attack speed, giving her a significant boost to damage and healing. It can be difficult to get the hang of, but once you've got it, you can go for a full team fight with boosted attack speed.

Jubilee mostly excels in a more brawl-heavy comp, but she can do just about anything thanks to her ability to create a healing and damaging area. While her ultimate isn't stellar compared to some other strategists, she more than makes up for it in other areas.

Jubilee Abilities

Jubilee has so many abilities that it can seem a bit daunting, but don't worry too much. Getting the feel of it and the order of operations is the most important.

Once you've got the hang of it, you'll be able to easily take on any team in this crazy shooter. Well, if you'll be able to see anything past everything happening on the screen.

Jubilee Offensive Tips

In terms of her offensive abilities, Jubilee can do a good bit of damage, although that is fairly dependent on your skill with her kit. She excels the most in situations where she can do both damage and healing simultaneously.

  • Aim at Groups — When a fight begins to break out, you can use her Blooming Ball to keep allies healed and deal consistent damage to enemies.
  • Power the Balls — Her Blooming Balls can be powered up, and this is significantly easier to do with healing than with damage, so focus on getting them boosted, making them last longer, be bigger and stronger.
  • One Ball at a Time — Jubilee's skill comes from keeping her attack speed up, so try to only use one ball at a time. This will make them last until the cooldown on Dazzling Detonation is complete.
  • Stay Grouped — You'll find the best way to stay engaged in the fight is to simply stay in the fight with your tanks. She excels in brawl-style fights, so use that to your advantage.
  • Return Bad Shots — If you miss one of your Blooming Balls or don't feel like it's generating value, simply recall it, and you'll get a boost to the cooldown reduction of your next one.

You can be pretty aggressive with Jubilee, although this won't lead to a ton of success. Just remember that her kit thrives on keeping up her attack speed and utilizing that to put pressure on the enemy team.

Jubilee Defensive Tips

While Jubilee may feel like a more offensive-minded character, I've found that her burst healing potential makes her a great defensive hero. She can be really great for locking down an area and keeping teammates alive without getting into too many risky situations.

  • Aim at Their Feet — Much like Rich Keeble as Monoco, Jubilee can look at her team's feet rather than their faces. Her Blooming Balls will auto-track to the nearest ally, so firing them at the ground makes them pop the quickest.
  • Don't Waste Balls — Her Blooming Balls are the cornerstone of her defensive abilities and give her the chance to activate her increased attack speed, so focus on using Dazzling Detonation on teammates to hit that Sparkle Mark.
  • Stay on the Move — Staying Mobile is what will keep you alive and give you the best angle on the fight. Use Sparking Sprint to get a nice high jump in the air and fire a Blooming Ball into your teammates.
  • Protect Over Attack — If you don't have your boosted attack speed, it is unlikely that you'll win your one-on-one against any DPS character.
  • Boost to Boost — You can use your Sparking Sprint to increase your attack speed as you shoot your Blooming Balls. This works great because you recover your resources for Sparking Sprint pretty quickly.

If you do things right, Jubilee can be a pretty tough character to beat out in a team fight. She doesn't exactly thrive in one-on-one fights, though, so be sure to stay with your team and keep them alive.

Jubilee Team-up Abilities

With the newest changes to team-up abilities, you can have access to any team-up at any time, and that definitely changes some things. There isn't necessarily a right or wrong choice of the two on offer, so you can always choose which one you like best or which one might be enhanced by your teammates.

Hellfire Sparks is the one I prefer to use because it makes you a little harder to kill most of the time. Vampiric Kin can be great, especially when you're playing in a more brawl-heavy round of the game.

Jubilee Counters & How to Deal with Them

Jubilee technically doesn't have any hard counters that stop her abilities or prevent her from doing her job, though she does have some counters both for her and her play style. She thrives in situations where she has the time to get up to speed, so characters that prevent that can be a detriment to her.

Characters that can one-shot or do a lot of burst damage in a short time will outright stop her from being able to do anything. Black Panther and Spider-Man are two in particular to look out for, given their recent buffs and ability to immediately destroy anything they touch.

There's really only one way to deal with characters like those, and oftentimes the answer is swapping, but Jubilee can survive if she manages to stay with her team and not get singled out. Use her movement ability and self-healing with one of her Blooming Balls to keep yourself from exploding right away.

In terms of the other roles, there isn't much that can really stop her. Shield tanks like Strange and Magneto can also block her Dazzling Detonation, so you may want to think carefully before engaging with them.

Best Jubilee Comps

Jubilee does the absolute best in brawl comps. She can get off a ton of damage and healing, so playing with characters like Devil Dinosaur or The Thing works the best as long as the rest of the team is willing to commit to the bit.

She can easily sustain tanks in a fight using her increased attack speed and her Blooming Balls to keep that attack speed sustained throughout most of a fight. The bigger the fight and the closer together everyone is, the better Jubilee is going to perform.

As a main strategist, she can do well, but you may struggle if you're spending too much time alone, so bring a second Strategist to offer her some help in the backline, like Cloak & Dagger or Luna Snow. They can help to get her out of dangerous situations with extra healing or with some crowd control abilities.

That's about all there is for this hero in this fantastic hero shooter. Now that you know how she works, you should find a little more success in your games, and if you aren't, it may just be because brawl isn't especially popular in this unique shooter.
