Not even a week after former Texas offensive lineman Cole Hutson filed for an age-based request for an additional season of eligibility after he was thought to have used up his four seasons at the conclusion of 2025, the Travis County court has announced its decision to side with Hutson, who played in 48 games during his time at Texas, including 23 starts; throughout his era on the Forty Acres, Hutson spent time at guard and center.

The temporary restraining order ahead of a pending injunction hearing will allow Hutson to resume football activities.

The NCAA released a statement about the ruling:

Notwithstanding the opinion of the NCAA, Nakos reported that it’s not clear where Hutson might play if the judge grants his injunction, but Inside Texas previously indicated that there is a roster spot available with the Longhorns.

What might be more unclear is whether Hutson entered the portal during the winter window or if he could pick another school of his choosing now without having taken that step. Strange times!
