Tyrrell Hatton feels "further away than ever" from winning a major championship after a "miserable" weekend at The Open Championship.
The LIV Golf star is among the better players of his generation yet to win a major, and he had to settle for a T69 at Royal Birkdale after another year at the big four passed him by. He performed well at the Masters and U.S. Open with top-10 finishes, but a four-over-par final round at Birkdale has left a sour taste in the mouth of the fiery Englishman.
The world No. 23 has nine top-10 finishes at the majors, and he won LIV Golf Andalucia, the breakaway league's last event before a seven-week hiatus that ends at JCB Golf & Country Club in his homeland on Thursday.

But he gave a brutally honest verdict on his performances at the majors over the years, saying the only chance he has ever had down the stretch was the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont. He admitted the prospect of getting his hands on any of the game's most prestigious trophies feels distant.
"Well, going off my most recent performance, no, it feels further away than ever," he said. "Yeah, I mean, realistically, in all the majors I've played, there's only been one major where I've really had a chance to win on the back nine, and it didn't go my way that day.
"But I know that if I play well enough, then I will be around those positions to give myself another chance. We'll try again next year and see how we go."
Addressing his performances at the majors this season, he added: "Probably inconsistent would be the best word. Obviously, it ended up being a great week at the Masters [with a T3 finish]. Missing the cut at the PGA was not great.
"Then had a decent result, T7 at U.S. Open, and then was in a decent position going into the weekend at The Open and didn't play particularly well, and a few unfortunate breaks just kind of compounded the errors that I was making anyway.
"Yeah, that was a pretty miserable weekend in the end. Unfortunately, it made it another disappointing major."
Hatton, a winner on the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and LIV, admits he is satisfied with his haul of 14 career wins, but he knows it could, and probably should, be more.
"If you had told me the tournaments that I'd go on to win, I'd probably be a bit surprised," he said. "So yeah, the kid inside of me, playing on the last four Ryder Cup teams, is surreal, to be honest.
"But I'm proud of those achievements. Obviously, I'd like to win a few more times before my career is over."
