In 2017, Kate Hudson surprised her fans with a buzz cut. This hairstyle made her look gorgeous, but it was very different from her usual style.

If you want to make an extremely bold style choice, one thing never fails: shaving your head. Especially if you had pretty, long blond hair before, like Kate Hudson. When the "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" star chopped off her golden strands in 2017, her shorn head was so jarring and made her look like someone else entirely.

In a photo from a Michael Kors and Vogue Japan event in November 2017, Hudson smiles with her natural hair color cut even shorter than a pixie cut. But it's not just Hudson's dark brown hair that makes her totally unrecognizable. It's also the way the buzz cut pulls all the attention to her face, causing it to stand out in a way that it usually doesn't when surrounded by shoulder-length strands of blond. The cut totally transformed her look, proving how much your hairstyle can make a difference in your appearance!

Kate Hudson didn't just buzz her hair on a whim; she actually did it to star in the film "Music" by Sia, which came out in 2021. She was certainly in good company — as many celebrities have shaved their head for a role. And, it turns out, she actually liked it! In a March 2018 interview with Harper's Bazaar, Hudson reflected on the striking beauty choice. "The shaved head was awesome," she told the outlet. "I didn't think I'd love it so much. The connection to it [her hair] was powerful and I wasn't prepared for that. It's so liberating."

Just like Hudson looks flawless when she goes make up-free, she looked gorgeous with her buzz cut. However, right before she cut her hair, she had a moment of anxiety. At first, she admitted that she "didn't think about it because it was the role," in an October 2017 interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." However, as her son Bingham, then 6 years old, began helping shave her head with Sia, she freaked out, thinking: "Oh! What is the shape of my head going to look like?" Hudson added, "I really started to panic." Luckily for her, the end result was great (and perfectly round).
