The latest ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings have brought significant movement across the batting, bowling and all-rounder charts following England’s impressive ODI series win over India and New Zealand’s continued dominance against the West Indies.
Several England players have been rewarded for their outstanding performances, while India’s top-order stars have largely maintained their places near the summit despite a disappointing series defeat. Joe Root headlines the latest update after making his long-awaited return to the top 10, with Ben Duckett, Mitchell Santner and Gudakesh Motie also among the biggest gainers.
Joe Root returns to the top 10 after five years
Root has climbed four places to eighth in the latest ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings after producing a remarkable series against India. The former England captain remained unbeaten in all three innings, scoring 76, 99 and 74 to play a pivotal role in England’s first ODI series victory over India since 2018.
The rise marks Root’s return to the top 10 for the first time since February 2020, highlighting his outstanding consistency in the 50-over format. Fellow England opener Duckett also enjoyed a massive jump, climbing 11 places to joint-19th after smashing a record-breaking 141 at Lord’s, the highest individual ODI score at the iconic venue.
At the top of the batting rankings, New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell continues to occupy the No. 1 spot with 802 rating points. India captain Shubman Gill remains a close second, just one point behind Mitchell, while Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retain the third and fourth positions respectively. Shreyas Iyer has also moved up two places to 13th after his valuable 66-run knock in the second ODI.
Mitchell Santner and Gudakesh Motie make big strides in bowling rankings
The bowling rankings have also seen notable changes after impressive performances in recent ODI series. New Zealand captain Santner has climbed three places to fourth after claiming two wickets each in the third and fourth ODIs against the West Indies. West Indies left-arm spinner Motie has broken into the top 10 after his brilliant five-wicket haul in the fourth ODI, jumping seven places to joint-ninth.
India all-rounder Axar Patel and West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph have each gained 10 spots to move to 32nd and 26th respectively. England all-rounder Sam Curran has also made progress in the bowling rankings, climbing 10 places to 70th following his four-wicket haul at Lord’s.

Michael Bracewell strengthens all-rounder rankings
New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell has been another major beneficiary of the latest rankings update. The experienced all-rounder has climbed 14 places to 29th in the batting rankings and also moved up to third in the ICC Men’s ODI all-rounder rankings after another productive series against the West Indies.
Meanwhile, the latest ICC Men’s T20I rankings also witnessed several changes. Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan has reached a career-best 20th position after finishing as the leading run-scorer in the T20I series against Zimbabwe. Saif Hassan has climbed 10 places to 27th, while Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett has reached a career-best ninth position.
Among the bowlers, Bangladesh duo Mahedi Hasan and Rishad Hossain have made notable gains, while Zimbabwe left-arm seamer Richard Ngarava has climbed to a career-best 32nd position after finishing with eight wickets in the series.
