The “Tonight Show” host deftly zinged that hidden zinger.

Jimmy Fallon on Monday declared the Donald Trump curse had struck again in Argentina’s 1-0 loss to Spain in the World Cup final. Then he took a bigger swipe at the president. (Watch the video below.)

The “Tonight Show” host explained that Trump had said before the match it was hard to bet against Argentine star Lionel Messi, dooming the defending champions to defeat just as he had other sports teams recently.

“Yep, Trump backed the Knicks [in person at Game 3 of the NBA Finals]. They lost,” Fallon said. “Trump backed the U.S. men’s [soccer] team. They lost. Trump backed Messi. He lost. At some point, Trump should try backing Iran.”

After some oohs, the comedian finished. “And then we’ll see, maybe, get this war over with.”

Trump, speaking alongside Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in the Oval Office, said Israeli forces are “in the process of withdrawing” under an agreement brokered with Washington’s backing — while emphasizing the next...
