Stage 17 of the Tour de France, running from Chambéry to Voiron, was won by Jasper Philipsen, marking his first stage victory.

Stage 17 of the Tour de France took the riders on a 174.7-kilometer (108.55-mile) journey from Chambéry to Voiron, featuring mostly flat terrain with rolling hills.

Ultimately, it was Jasper Philipsen who rose to the occasion, claiming his first stage victory of this year's Tour on Wednesday, July 22.

The 164-man peloton set off at a brisk pace, with Baptiste Velstroffer launching the first attack of the day. He was quickly joined by Jonas Abrahamsen and several other hopeful chasers, but their efforts failed to establish a meaningful gap over the main group.

As the race approached the opening climb in the Côte de Bassa, a Category 4 ascent, Valentin Paret-Peintre surged ahead to claim the mountain points.

On the second climb of the stage, the Côte de Rossillon, Ecuadorian rider Richard Carapaz secured valuable points in the mountains classification. The stage continued on the third categorized climb, the Col de Prés, as Dutch superstar Mathieu van der Poel surged to the front, reaching the summit first and grabbing those points.

The stage concluded with a sprint finish, with Philipsen edging past Mauro Schmid in the closing meters to secure the victory.
