Plus more comparable cookware that costs hundreds less.
No kitchen is complete without at least one piece of enameled cast iron cookware. In mine, the Dutch oven has taken a beating. Since Le Creuset was outside my budget, I bought an emerald Amazon Basics version that has surpassed my expectations over six years of regular use. Its interior isn’t quite as slick as it once was, and it may not be an heirloom I pass down to the next generation. Still, it has never chipped and shows no signs of giving up anytime soon.
In fact, Amazon is filled with well-reviewed enameled cast iron cookware that can braise, bake, sear, and simmer without requiring advice from a financial advisor. While the iconic French cookware brand is the gold standard and has aced our editors’ tests, you’ll be surprisingly satisfied with a Lodge Dutch oven, Cookwin’s shallow cast iron braiser, the Cuisinart Chef’s Dutch oven, and other pieces at a fraction of the price.

Lodge Essential 6-Quart Enameled Dutch Oven
Lodge is mostly known for its raw cast iron, but the brand’s accessible take on Le Creuset’s Signature 5.5-Quart Round Dutch Oven is the closest thing at the best price. With more than 33,000 five-star ratings, users rave about its durability; large, easy-to-grip handles; and attractive selection of colors, not to mention that it’s become their go-to pot for braising, roasting, baking, and simmering. “This is a top-quality product, beautifully made and finished, that cooks like pots that cost double or triple the amount,” one reviewer said.
Amazon Basics 7.3-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven
Instead of dropping up to $500 on Le Creuset’s 7.25-Quart Signature Round Dutch Oven, get the most bang for your buck for batch cooking or entertaining with Amazon’s in-house version. Despite its low price, this Dutch oven is still safe for use up to 500°F. Mine retains heat well enough that I can make a curry for eight before people arrive and it’s still warm when we sit down to eat. Six years on, the green color hasn’t faded, so I proudly display it on an open shelf for a pop of color in my kitchen. Shoppers are also surprised by the value for money and the lid that fits “tight and snugly,” so braises won’t dry out after hours in the oven.
Cuisinart Chef’s Classic 7-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Oval Dutch Oven
For longer roasts or to bake sourdough loaves for sandwiches, Cuisinart’s variation of Le Creuset’s Signature Oval Dutch Oven is just the right shape and size. It’s also large enough to make big batches of soup and pretty enough to bring to the holiday table. “It distributes heat beautifully and cleans up like a dream,” one reviewer said. Another shopper bought this after their Le Creuset’s enamel wore down to the cast iron. “Get this,” they said. “You will not be sorry.”
Lodge Essential 3.6-Quart Enameled Braiser
Lodge’s answer to Le Creuset’s Signature Braiser will become your everyday pan that’s attractive enough to leave out on the stovetop. Gently sloped sides make it easy to get a spatula under fried eggs, and the pan is shallow enough to get good browning on food without steaming it. It’s large enough to cook one-pot meals for four, and “it sears and deglazes beautifully. And cleanup takes 10 seconds,” one shopper said.
Cookwin 3.8-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Casserole Braiser
At an even more economical price than the Lodge braiser, this shallow casserole pan from Cookwin has nearly as many fans. Its tightly fitting lid features raised points that redirect condensation onto the food, helping meat and vegetables stay moist as they braise. Large loop handles also provide an easy grip when moving the heavy pan. One shopper who owns several other pieces of enameled cast iron called this economical option sleek and elegant and said it “performs as well as the others.”
Kitchen Academy 7-Piece Enameled Cast Iron Cookware Set
Upgrade your essentials in one swoop with this affordable cookware set that includes a 10-inch skillet, 3-quart sauté pan, 2-quart saucepan, and 5.5-quart casserole pot. Users praise them for evenly distributing heat and lids that seal in moisture for tender stews, pot roasts, and beans. The smooth coating also releases messes more easily than bare cast iron, so you get an entire coordinated set for less than the price of many single Le Creuset pots. “The sizes are perfect and not as heavy [as] I thought,” one reviewer said.
Vorringard Enameled Cast Iron Bread Oven
Dedicated sourdough lovers need a dedicated bread oven that can turn out crusty loaves but won’t break the bank. Vorringard’s alternative to Le Creuset’s Bread Oven retains heat well, while its domed lid traps steam to keep the crust flexible long enough for the loaf to expand. Unlike a deep Dutch oven, its shallow base also makes it easier to lower soft dough into the scorching-hot pan without burning your hands. One shopper gave the pan all the credit for the success of the first bread she ever made. “It came out fantastic and was super easy to make,” they said.
Nsirons 1-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Saucepan
For about one-tenth of the price of Le Creuset’s Signature Saucepan, this 1-quart alternative is ideal for warming milk, simmering gravy, melting butter, or preparing oatmeal and other small portions. The enameled cast iron distributes heat evenly, so you won’t be as inclined to burn nuts or spices when you toast them. A long handle makes it easier to maneuver than a mini Dutch oven and performs just as well as pricier brands. “It is as well made as my Staub pans,” one fan said.
Kook Ceramic Mini 12-Ounce Cocotte Set, Set of 4
At less than half the price of Le Creuset’s mini cocottes, these stoneware dishes are “so, so cute” while being an affordable way to serve individual desserts, dipping sauces, or overnight oats. The 12-ounce vessels also work for baked pasta, pot pies, and French onion soup, while the matching lids help keep each portion warm. They can go in the oven, microwave, freezer, and dishwasher, making them good for everyday cooking and serving.
Mora Ceramic 2-in-1 Butter Dish with Lid
Why pay $52 for Le Creuset’s stoneware European butter dish when this ceramic option does the same job at half the price? Its reversible 2-in-1 design lets you use it as either a covered tray or a lidded tub, while the interior can hold two sticks of butter or one pad of Irish-style butter. The lead-free glazed porcelain butter dish is also safe for the microwave and dishwasher. One shopper hailed it as functional while it “looks beautiful sitting on my kitchen counter.”
