Yakir Levi, 45, an Israeli businessman and reality TV star, was identified on Tuesday as the person who plunged to his death from a luxury building in Miami the day before, family members and media reports said.
Levi fell from the 28th floor of the Acqualina Resort and Residences On The Beach in Sunny Isles Beach at around 9.30 pm, the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper reported.
According to the report, the night before he died, Levi was tagged in a group photo with two other people that was posted on Instagram.
A post along with the photo read “Nights we won’t remember with people we won’t forget.”
Police and emergency services were called to the scene.
“Upon arrival, they confirmed an adult male had fallen, and MDFR determined he was deceased on the scene,” a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office spokesperson told the Mail.
Levi’s death is being probed as an “unclassified death investigation,” the report said.
“The manner and cause of death will be determined by the autopsy results conducted by the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner,” said a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Homicide Bureau spokesperson.
A representative of the Acqualina told the Mail that the building is cooperating with investigators.
Levi is survived by his wife and three children. Levi made a fortune with his 770 Water Damage Restoration, which restores fire- and water-damaged properties.
Levi featured in the Channel 13 reality show “The Americans,” which followed five Israelis who moved to Los Angeles and built their lives there while maintaining ties with family back in Israel. It was broadcast in 2025.
“We are in shock,” Levi’s sister Limor told the Ynet outlet on Wednesday, explaining that her brother had planned to return to live in Israel.
She said the circumstances of Levi’s death were still not clear and that he was in Miami for a vacation.
Limor said all the information the family had received so far came from friends rather than the local police.
“We still don’t know what happened,” she said.
“We saw him enjoying himself in Miami, posting videos to Instagram,” she said. “Everything was going ahead as usual. Suddenly, yesterday morning, a friend called and told us that he had died.”
Levi visited Israel last week before and wanted to sign up his children for school, Limor said.
Channel 12 reported that Levi’s remains are expected to arrive in Israel on Thursday.
