Isle of Man breaks record with tourist economy soaring to £433m - The island attracts visitors to its heritage sites, natural landscapes and major motorsports events

The Isle of Man’s tourism industry has achieved a record value of £433m, way surpassing its turnover before the pandemic.

A new report from the self-governing island’s tourism board has revealed that it welcomed 352,301 visitors during 2025, an almost seven per cent increase from 2024.

The Isle of Man, situated in the Irish Sea, is the first entire nation in the world to be recognised as a Unesco Biosphere, a testament to its rich ecological landscape of beaches, heather moorlands and wooded glens.

Visitors are also drawn to the island for the TT motorcycle race held every year in the summer, its Viking and Celtic heritage sites and its popular seafood scene.

Its Unesco listing notes the “healthy resurgence” of the Manx Gaelic language, with two primary schools teaching solely in Manx. Folk events, such as the Yn Cruinnaght Celtic Gathering, also attract visitors interested in the island’s traditional customs such as Oie Voaldyn, a fire festival that takes place each May.

Its visitor economy, now valued at £433m, saw a 95 per cent growth since 2018, when the value of the tourism sector on the island stood at £222m.

The sharpest jump in revenue happened between 2024 and 2025, with a £107m difference year on year.

Deborah Heather, CEO of Visit Isle of Man, said: “What is particularly encouraging is that we are not simply growing visitor numbers; we are growing value.

“Average visitor spend has already exceeded the target originally set for 2032, accounting for inflation; visitor satisfaction has reached 99.2 per cent, essentially a 10 out of 10 in Net Promoter Score terms, and tourism is now worth more than £433 million to the wider economy.

“These are strong indicators that our long-term approach is creating lasting benefits for residents, businesses, communities and visitors alike.”
