It has some of the most vibrant foliage. Autumn in New Hampshire is a special time. For what seems like an all-too-brief season, the trees light up in an explosion of color that has to be seen in person.

But it’s also a playground for winter lovers. North Conway doesn’t shut down once summer is over; it just shifts over to winter mode. Cranmore Mountain offers some of the best skiing in the region, just a snowball’s throw from downtown.

And lastly, it makes for a great base for exploring elsewhere. One of the town’s most popular attractions is the Conway Scenic Railroad. This excursion takes you into the heart of the White Mountains at Crawford Notch, offering spectacular scenery along the way.

Visit the town’s website to learn more, and check out the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce for the latest events and happenings in the greater North Conway region.

North Conway isn’t alone as far as great small towns in New Hampshire go. Here are 10 towns that offer peace and quiet, plus 7 that are perfect for a summer day trip in New England.
