Brandon Aiyuk has been constantly catching headlines. Aiyuk is not satisfied with the current organization and has been posting criticism of the franchise from time to time on social media.
Grant Cohn Reacts to Aiyuk’s NFLPA Comments
Analyst Grant Cohn shared his thoughts on the wide receiver’s new Instagram post and said:
“Clearly Aiyuk thought he was going to get released after June 1 — that’s why he’s been crashing out. It’s a shame he had the same agent as the general manager.”
Aiyuk has added another chapter to the saga this time. The wide receiver posted a new Instagram Story claiming that 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan wants him to return to the franchise.
He said:
“Coach wants me to come back so I can draw all the coverage and make it easy for the guys that remind him of himself from back in his heyday.
”
Aiyuk continued and said:
“People have career years when they are 11 on the O! Everybody eat NO KIZZY!!! I hold an NFL RECORD for making plays with the least amount of opportunities!!! Im looking for MY op because I’m going to capitalize and win a bowl! I’m not going to fumble it away!! I’m done playing backseat to folks who are NOT like that!!! #TRUESTORY #FREEYUKE.”
He also added:
“They were like, ‘BA, we’re taking 30 mil out of your contract,’ Aiyuk wrote on Instagram. ‘I was like, “Okay.” NFLPA was like, “Do you want to appeal it and try to get it back?” I was like, “Nah, I’m just gonna go to DC.” They were like, “Okay, we’re gonna start a smear campaign to try and tarnish your NIL (name, image, and likeness).” I was like, “Okay, that’s going to make me sad, but I’m still going to DC.” NFLPA was like, “
.” True story!”
In an ideal world, Aiyuk could have handled this situation in a more mature way and should have swallowed his pride and appealed to the NFLPA.
The wide receiver has made it clear that he feels the NFLPA is not working in his favor.
In the recent cryptic note shared by Aiyuk on Instagram, the wide receiver is taking aim not at the 49ers, but at the NFL Players Association. Aiyuk suggested that he told the NFLPA he didn’t want to appeal the 49ers’ voiding of his guarantees because he intended to play for the Commanders. He further alleged that the union decided to “start a smear campaign” and “tarnish” his NIL.
Fans are waiting to see what happens by the end of training camp, as this saga has stretched on for a long time.
