A Hamas terrorist who invaded Israel during the October 7 onslaught and two other members of the terror group were killed in an Israeli strike in the Gaza Strip this week, the IDF and Shin Bet announce.
The strike on Tuesday in the Strip’s north targeted Abdallah Jahja, a member of Hamas’s naval force.
The IDF says that Jahja invaded Israel on October 7 and during the war and recently advanced attacks “in the maritime domain” against Israeli troops and civilians.
Alongside Jahja, the army says that two other Hamas operatives were killed in the strike: Mohammed Al-Hawari and Sabhi Saqallah, both members of the Zeitoun Battalion.
In the past week, the IDF says it has killed at least five terrorists who were involved in the October 7, 2023, onslaught or who helped hold hostages in the Gaza Strip during the war, amid an ongoing revenge operation for the massacre.
A Times of Israel analysis published last week found the IDF had stepped up the large-scale retribution campaign in the past few months with the avowed aim of hunting down and eliminating every terrorist who took part in the October 7 massacre. Some of those strikes, which have come despite a ceasefire prohibiting offensive action, have also come with civilian casualties.
According to the IDF, of the estimated 5,000 terrorists who entered Israel on October 7, more than 1,200 were killed in southern Israel during the onslaught. Of the thousands who managed to return to Gaza, over 1,500 have been targeted and killed in Gaza during the past three years of war.
So far in July, the military has reported killing at least 10 October 7 terrorists, another eight terror commanders, and 29 more operatives working to restore Hamas infrastructure or advance attacks.
