Ayaneo’s previously delayed flagship Next 2 gaming handheld is finally back on sale, but the price is higher than ever. Sales of the console were suspended in late March, with the brand saying production was “no longer sustainable" due to rising RAM and storage costs.
Now, as spotted by PC Gamer, Ayaneo has reversed course and relisted its gaming handheld with the same specs but a $1,000 price hike across all variants. Ayaneo has yet to publicly comment on the Next 2's return, opting to instead quietly reinstate it on its website.
All models sport an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 chip. The top-end version comes with 2TB of storage and 128GB of RAM for $5,299, up from an initial launch price of $4,299.
There are cheaper versions of the machine, such as a middle-ground option with 64GB of RAM and 1TB of storage priced at $3,699, up from its original listing of $2,699.
The cheapest variant comes with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage at $2,999. That's up from its original price of $1,999. It also avoids previous early-bird pricing, which initially took the console down to $1,799 for select customers.
Only one model appears to be in stock: the 64GB RAM and 1TB storage variant. If you buy it, Ayaneo says shipping will begin at the "end of July," but it doesn't provide an exact date.
In March, Ayaneo said it would "consider resuming the sale of the Next 2” if it saw “storage prices return to more reasonable levels.” That hasn’t happened due to the ongoing global storage crisis, but Ayaneo appears to have seen enough demand to revive sales.
Many gaming companies have increased prices in the first half of 2026, including the Nintendo Switch 2, Sony’s PlayStation 5, Microsoft's Xbox Series S and X, and various handhelds capable of running PC games.
