Forward Kyogo Furuhashi has departed Birmingham City "a cult figure", believes BBC Radio WM's Richard Wilford.
The Japan international has joined LA Galaxy after just one season at St Andrew's, in which he scored only three goals in 31 appearances.
Furuhashi arrived with high expectations, with the 31-year-old impressing during a three-and-a-half season stint at Celtic, leading some fans speculating on where it went wrong during his move to the Championship.
Among those theories was the impact of a shoulder injury he had picked up at the end of his Celtic spell, but Wilford is not so sure it played a role.
"I'm not sure, particularly the way he plays, that it [the shoulder injury] would have impeded him too much," Wilford said.
"It's not like he's physical; he's not on the shoulder of defenders, he's not going up for aerial challenges. His game is about movement and arriving at the right place at the right time.
"He ended up, not a cult hero, but a cult figure at Blues. Some fans felt the management was to blame, the coaching was to blame, that given a different style of play, Kyogo might have thrived.
"I must admit I didn't see that. I saw a lad that was snatching at every chance that he got."
