Fresnillo said second-quarter gold and silver production fell due to lower ore grades at key mines, but the miner backed its full-year guidance.
The Mexican precious-metals miner said Wednesday that it produced 154,812 ounces of gold in the second quarter, down 1.9% from the same period last year. This was due to lower ore grades at its Herradura and San Julian Veins sites but was partially offset by higher-grade ore at its Fresnillo mine.
While quarterly gold production fell year-on-year, it rose nearly 14% from the first quarter of the year.
Silver production fared worse, falling nearly 13% on year to 10.9 million ounces due to a combination of lower grades and a decrease in processed volumes, it said. Compared with the first quarter, silver output decreased 1.7%.
Lead production rose 15% and zinc production decreased 2.6% compared with the second quarter of 2025, it said.
