Former NFL RB Le'Veon Moss arrested on cruelty to a juvenile charge

Despite his recent retirement from the NFL, former Dolphins running back Le'Veon Moss won't be staying out of the headlines any time soon.

The news broke earlier this week that Moss had been arrested in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Moss was jailed on charges of cruelty to a juvenile. The charges come after a tragic accident that saw the former Miami running back's son gain control of a pistol that Moss kept underneath his pillow before unintentionally shooting himself with it.

The affidavit for the arrest read that "due to Moss’ negligence, a child under the age of seventeen suffered unjustifiable pain." It is currently unclear the extent of the injuries that his son suffered during the accident.

Moss went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft, but was picked up by the Miami Dolphins as a free agent afterward. But he never had the opportunity to step foot onto the field for the franchise, as he shocked the NFL by announcing his retirement from football just weeks later in May. The Dolphins placed him on the reserve/retired list, retaining his professional football rights.

Now it seems that Moss, whose collegiate career was plagued by struggles with anxiety and injuries, will not be getting a peaceful, uneventful start to his retirement from football.
