A Florida mom lounged in bed watching TV after she allegedly chained her 13-year-old daughter to a fence in blistering heat.
Yashira Marie Maldonado, 34, allegedly chained her teen daughter outside her great-grandmother's home on Saturday in the Miami suburb of Hialeah.
The child was shackled without food, water, or shade from the beaming sunlight, according to a police report cited by NBC Miami.
Police said that Maldonado handed her daughter a backpack filled with diapers, wipes, and medication, then put her phone on silent mode.
It comes after a Texas boy, 8, was set on fire by neighbor at a birthday party.

The girl's great-grandmother was shocked to find the teen outside in boiling, over ninety-degree heat.
The woman attempted to release her but couldn't, according to the report.
Maldonado, who was charged with child neglect and child abuse, allegedly told the police that she was overwhelmed from caring for her daughter and "wanted a break," according to the report.
She also allegedly said, "She knows what she did looks bad and is wrong."
The girl, who was ultimately chained up for an hour, was uninjured, according to WPLG 10.
Maldonado was released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond.

In a separate horrifying incident, a Florida police officer has been accused of killing a 6-year-old girl after he allegedly drove at speeds of 104 mph in a 50 mph zone because he was late for work.
Zachary Krug, 25, pleaded not guilty on Monday after authorities accused him of vehicular homicide and reckless driving.
The alleged incident occurred on April 15, when Krug, then a police officer with the Temple Terrace Police Department, was "late to his shift." Just after 3:30 p.m., Krug allegedly stopped at a red light before activating his lights on his unmarked vehicle in order to speed through.
He accelerated to 104 mph, eventually reaching the intersection of Fowler Avenue and North Avenue. That is when he came across a woman delivering Uber Eats orders in her vehicle with her three children inside.
The mother, Samantha Sakowski, was making either a left or a U-turn at the intersection when Krug allegedly noticed her vehicle and slammed his brakes. Nevertheless, he still hit the family at approximately 74 mph, crashing into the passenger side.
Sakowski and her children sustained serious injuries. Two of her kids, ages 18 months and 8 years, were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The 6-year-old daughter, Leila, however, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
