O'FALLON, Mo. - The O'Fallon Hoots used five pitchers in their 10-0 seven-inning victory over the Alton River Dragons Tuesday night.
That was four more pitchers than Alton hits.
Mac Floyd's two-out double in the fourth inning was the only base hit the Dragons had as they dropped the Prospect League game at CarShield Field.
O'Fallon starting pitcher Austin Szverra got the win, going four innings with nine strikeouts and no walks.
The parade of O'Fallon hurlers following Szverra included Carter Hollingsworth, Cameron Mosier, Bronco Whitt and Jack Moore.
Aside from Floyd's double down the left field line, the only other Alton baserunners came on four walks.
O'Fallon scored single runs in the first, second and fourth innings, then added three more in the sixth and four in the seventh.
The Hoots' Jaiden Glency was 3 for 4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Teammates Samuel Paule, Tyler Macon and Nick Steurer - the first three in the batting order - each was 2 for 3. Paule smacked a two-run home run in the seventh inning, scoring Jaiden Glency ahead of him. Steurer ,and Glency each had a triple in the game.
Alton starting pitcher Ben Barfield took the loss. He walked four, allowed two runs and three hits.
The loss dropped the River Dragons to 2-16 in the season's second-half standings. Overall, Alton is 4-40.
The Dragons will play the Thrillville Thrillbillies at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday in Marion.
