Crews say they believe the cause of the fire was an engine fault and nobody was hurt.

Firefighters tackled a blaze in Shropshire that destroyed a car and spread to a nearby field.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to Irelands Cross near Woore, just after 17:00 BST on Tuesday.

Crews discovered a Mini Countryman on fire, as well as 10 metres (33ft) of hedgerow and 20 sq m (215 sq ft) of cut grass in a neighbouring field.

The blaze was put out within minutes and crews remained at the scene to make sure it was fully out and damp down the area, a spokesperson said.

During the fire, the B5026 was closed at Irelands Cross.

No injuries were reported, and the fire service said the cause of the fire was believed to be a mechanical fault in the car's engine.
