Fiorentina begins its preseason schedule in earnest today with a tilt against AS Gubbio at the RBCVPetc. Gubbio (hard on the slopes of the Appenines in northern Umbria) currently plays in Serie C and has several Viola connections: regista Federico Carraro was a highly-touted youth prospect 15 years ago, rightback Nicolò Fazzi spent time on Serie A rosters over the years, and centerback Leonardo Baroncelli is spending his second consecutive year on loan with the Rossoblù.

Albert Guðmundsson wearing 9?) It’s just your standard warmup and none of this really means anything. Don’t read too much into it. Or do. Get hyped about some random teenager who comes on for the second half. Whatever feels good, man. We’re talking about a game where Marco Brescianini is starting on the wing. I’m not even sure how Gubbio’s lining up, as Domenico di Carlo seems to be experimenting a bit.
