Longtime SportsCenter anchor David Lloyd and injury/fantasy football analyst Stephania Bell are both expected to be laid off by ESPN, Front Office Sports has learned.
The moves come amid a round of layoffs that has also impacted NFL analyst Ryan Clark, MLB play-by-play announcer Karl Ravech, and NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero. An ESPN spokesperson declined comment.
Lloyd was one of the longest-tenured SportsCenter anchors, originally joining the network as an ESPNews anchor in 1997. He most recently hosted the SC@Night editions of SportsCenter.
Bell joined ESPN as a senior writer and injury analyst in 2008. A licensed physical therapist, she regularly appeared on ESPN’s fantasy football coverage.
Last month, FOS reported that ESPN was expected to undergo a round of layoffs this summer. The layoffs, which come four months after Disney completed its acquisition of NFL Network, are expected to affect both talent and non-camera-facing employees, according to sources.
On Tuesday morning, ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro addressed the company in a memo that can be read here, along with a full list of talent known to have been affected by the layoffs.
