President Donald Trump issued a fierce warning directed at Iran, drawing sharp criticism from some viewers online.
On July 19, Fox News interrupted its regular programming to broadcast live footage of Trump, 80, touching down at Joint Base Andrews in Prince George's County, Maryland. Trump had returned from the World Cup 2026 final, where Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in a humiliating defeat. The tournament concluded at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Trump asserted dominance over the Middle Eastern nation, declaring, "We control the Strait. They don't control anything." This came after most Americans don't think widespread voter fraud is an issue despite Trump's claims.

Following his claims on the Strait of Hormuz, Trump staked his claim over the primary oil export route, warning, "So we'll see what happens. But we'll hit them very hard tonight and we did that in the honor of the...probably three, as opposed to two, great patriots."
Social media users were quick to condemn Trump's remarks, with many pointing out that the conflict remains unresolved and that fuel costs have yet to fall.
One user wrote, "Buffoon. He says the same thing every week. How many times did he say we already won this war?"
Another chimed in, "Not the same threat, but still a threat, and we didn't meet many of the goals we set out on. Have gas prices even dropped yet?" A third person wrote, "How the hell do we have The Strait? I thought their military was 'wiped out and decimated?' How are we still badly damaging them?"
Despite the backlash, the president did have one supporter who posted, "Trump honoring fallen troops with more strikes as the US wraps its 9th straight night of pounding Iranian targets."
Prior to the press conference, Spain defeated Argentina following a 106-minute match.
Yet all attention was focused on the president, who, after awarding Spain the trophy, appeared hesitant to exit the stage.
Trump then inserted himself into the team's victory photograph, reports The Mirror US.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino rushed over to the president in an attempt to remove him from the shot. Despite the effort, Trump apparently declined to step away, remaining in position and clapping as the Spanish squad hoisted the trophy alongside him.
The president subsequently offered his reasoning for staying in the photograph.
"This was one of the greatest events of any kind ever held," said Trump. "There has never been anything like it, probably in terms of an event, let alone soccer or football, whatever you want to call it.
"But I thought it was incredible," he added. "It was four times greater than any FIFA ever held, and it's probably about five times, actually, they're telling me today.
"So we're very proud of our country, we're very proud of the job that everybody did. We congratulate Gianni Infantino, and all of his staff, and the incredible job they did," Trump concluded.
"But this was one of the greatest events of any kind ever held."
