The Los Angeles Dodgers reportedly acquired right-handed reliever Seth Halvorsen in a trade with the Colorado Rockies, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post on X.
In exchange for Halvorsen, the Dodgers traded pitching prospect Nick Frasso and outfield prospect Landyn Vidourek to the Rockies. Frasso was the Dodgers’ No. 2 overall prospect in 2024 behind catcher Dalton Rushing and ahead of 2026 All-Star outfielder Andy Pages.
The Dodgers added Frasso to the 40-man roster on June 6 after placing starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow on the 60-day injured list. But Frasso has yet to make his MLB debut and has spent this season with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Meanwhile, Vidourek is a Single-A prospect who the Dodgers drafted in the third round in 2025. Frasso will report to Triple-A Albuquerque, and Vidourek will report to Single-A Fresno.
Halvorsen Will Continue Rehab Assignment in Triple-A
Halvorsen will begin his career with the Dodgers with Triple-A Oklahoma City, per Sherman.
The 26-year-old has been out for the entire month of July with shoulder inflammation. Before the Rockies traded him to the Dodgers, Halvorsen started a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday. Halvorsen will now continue his rehab assignment with the Dodgers’ affiliate.
Halvorsen has three years of MLB experience with the Rockies under his belt. This season, he accrued a 4.74 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 19 innings and 21 appearances before landing on the IL. He made a career-high 42 appearances across 39.2 innings out of Colorado’s bullpen last season.
As MLB’s Aug. 3 trade deadline approaches, it is unlikely trading for Halvorsen will be last deal the defending World Series champions make this season.
