A bedroom’s paint color is so important. In fact, we’d argue that it’s the most significant room when it comes to just the right paint color choices. You need a shade that will make you feel soothed in the evening, but it should also be pleasing to the eye no matter what time of day it is.
“Your home should be a reflection of who you are, and your bedroom, even more so, should feel like your own personal sanctuary,” says Charlotte Lucas, owner of Charlotte Lucas Interior Design. “It's the first thing you experience in the morning and the last thing you take in at night, so it sets the tone for your well-being.”
“The right paint color isn't just about aesthetics—it changes how a room feels the moment you walk into it,” says Taylor McLaughlin, founder and principal designer of Gracia Taylor Design. “In the morning, it should feel light and inviting without being overly stimulating. At night, it should help you exhale and settle in after a busy day.”
Looking at trending bedroom paint colors can give you further inspiration as you choose a new hue for your bedroom, something that will keep the space feeling fresh while offering a feeling of respite. These are the colors designers predict will be huge for bedrooms in 2027.
Muted Pink
“Muted pinks and mauves are having a moment, and not just for feminine spaces,” says Lucas. “I think we are going to see a lot more of it heading into 2027. There is something about this color family that just works in a bedroom. It feels warm and romantic.”
She specifically recommends Mauve Mist by Benjamin Moore, which she says pairs beautifully with warm neutrals, soft linens, and natural wood tones.
Blue-Gray
Some timeless colors are trending as well, like shades of soft blue-gray. “They simply make a bedroom feel peaceful,” McLaughlin observes. “I think homeowners are looking for colors that create a sense of calm, and Blue Lace by Benjamin Moore does exactly that while still feeling fresh.”
Mint Green
Minty greens are still going strong, and Lucas predicts that this shade will continue to grow in popularity as people gravitate toward nature-inspired palettes. “Cromarty by Farrow & Ball feels fresh, sophisticated, and relaxed. It is restful on the eyes and creates a quiet, airy moment. It works equally well in bright rooms with lots of natural
light.”
Warm White
While stark whites prevailed over the past few years, warm whites are now taking their place. “Warm neutrals are replacing the cool grays and bright whites of the past decade,” says Lucas. “Natural Wicker by Benjamin Moore has depth that feels grounded and timeless. It is an incredibly versatile color that complements natural textures like rattan, linen, and wood beautifully.”
Additionally, within the warm-white family, McLaughlin suggests using Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore
Whisper Blue
The absolute softest of blues will become more popular next year, particularly in bedrooms. McLaughlin says that she’s seeing homeowners move away from stark whites and toward whites with a little more softness, and even dipping their toes into the soft blue waters.
“White Ice by Benjamin Moore has the slightest hint of blue, which keeps it feeling clean and airy without feeling sterile,” she says. “It's a beautiful option for bedrooms with plenty of natural light because it makes the space feel bright while still feeling restful.”
Light Yellow
While yellow generally isn’t recommended for bedrooms since it can be loud and bright (read: not exactly the tone you want to set for a good night’s sleep), ever-so-soft yellow can be a tranquil alternative.
Lucas says that “creamy, light yellows are here to stay,” adding that people are gravitating toward tones that actually feel alive on the wall. “Windham Cream by Benjamin Moore has a beautiful warmth that feels sunny without being overwhelming,” she says. “Paint the whole room in this color: walls, ceiling, trim!”
Another buttery yellow that McLaughlin enjoys is Benjamin Moore Barely Yellow. “Barely Yellow brings warmth into a room without feeling loud or overly cheerful,” she says. “We’ll even use it at 25% or 50% strength when we want just a whisper of color. It creates a welcoming bedroom that feels warm and happy from the moment you wake up.”
