Although Bradley Barcola was not a regular starter for the loaded French national team attack at the 2026 World Cup, the PSG left winger more than made his presence felt on the pitch with a couple of goals and assists, electrifying off the bench and unsteadying most of the fullbacks and defenses he went up against.
With PSG going hard after Yan Diomande, who has stated that the Ligue 1 giants are his preference, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and other major supporter groups in the Premier League are wondering if Barcola could potentially want a move away to become "the guy" for a different top club.
In a transfer update prior to the World Cup Final, David Ornstein of The Athletic stated that even though Barcola only has two years left on his contract with PSG, the stance from the back to back Champions League winners is clear: PSG want to keep Barcola around. They do not want to sell, and they actually want to start working on a contract extension for him. But the veteran transfer insider added one last layer of hope, stating that Barcola is open to move one day, though it is unclear what he will ultimately decide this year.
The chances of Bradley Barcola look bleak
Ornstein did not mention Tottenham specifically, but he did discuss their arch rivals Arsenal, assuring that the Gunners have not yet made an active approach to PSG for the star left winger. But Ornstein had another caution to Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool, and anyon else potentially interested. Since Barcola is at a peak coming off two Champions League wins, PSG are going to want even more than the record 116 million pounds Manchester City spent for Nottingham Forest center midfielder Elliot Anderson this summer.
Ornstein said, via afcstuff, “Bradley Barcola has been mentioned, but we don’t know of active movements from Arsenal on Barcola at this moment in time. PSG’s standpoint is that they do NOT want to sell him, they would like to renew his contract. Even if they are to sell him, the price in their mind would be higher - considerably, I think - than Elliot Anderson’s move to Manchester City. This is a player who has won Champions Leagues, you have got to pay the market rate. He does have two years to go on his contract, he doesn’t appear to be signing, he appears to be open to moving. It seems, for multiple reasons, it’s one that might take some time to develop, whether that’s staying or going.”
Bradley Barcola is going to cost more than Yan Diomande will, and even though PSG want to keep both, if Barcola asks to leave, PSG could actually make a profit here if they sell their current winger. Tottenham should be interested despite the price point because of how much of an upgrade Barcola would be on their own left wingers, but if other big clubs are interested, PSG are not open to selling yet, and the price will be 120 million pounds or more, Spurs are not in a good position with no concrete links as of yet either.
