Today we’re talking about Mizzou Football
Preseason awards and honors continue to roll through as we inch closer to the College Football season. On Wednesday, the Shriner’s Children East-West Bowl released their watch list — and Mizzou was well represented with 14 players being named.
Austin Simmons, Ahmad Hardy, Jamal Roberts, and Brett Norfleet highlight the offensive playmakers — while we should expect to see Robert Woodyard Jr. and Nicholas Rodriguez be key contributors at the linebacker position this season.
On special team’s — kicker Blake Craig was named a Good Works Team Nominee from the American Football Coaches Association.
A good honor for Craig after suffering a torn ACL last season. Drinkwitz said at SEC Media Days on Monday that he is fully recovered.

Yesterday at Rock M and Rock M+
Dr. Bryan Maggard will be hired as the new Deputy Athletics Director/Chief Operating Officer. He comes from the University of Louisiana where he was the Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Welcome back to Mizzou, Bryan Maggard. A good addition to the athletic department.
Popplewell departs Mizzou with heavy postseason experience, from placing 24th at the SEC Cross Country Championships in 2025, to taking 35th at the NCAA Division I Midwest Region Cross Country Championships that same year, his talent has not gone unnoticed. His abilities as an athlete are sure to make him an engine for the Sooners’ squad right out of the gate.
A big loss for the Mizzou Track and Field roster as Austin Popplewell transfers to another SEC school in Oklahoma.
“I think we have an exciting journey,” Goodman said. “Players have the opportunity to help build something that’s never been here before. They can create history.”
Aaron put together a great interview with Robin Goodman. Laird Veatch has made a strong hire within the tennis program.
What a year! Mizzou Athletics welcomed in a ton of new talent on the court, on the field, in the gym… everywhere, through both high school recruiting and through the transfer portal. The Rock M staff was encouraged to make selections from an innumerable number of possibilities and came up with a list of nine freshmen and transfers who fit the bill for the best addition to the team.
Here’s the latest edition of the Rock M’mys. There’s plenty of great candidates for Newcomer of the Year — we will have a male and female winner. So, go vote!
