College Football 27: Best Slider Settings

Find the sweet spot for the best authentic experience in your Dynasty modes for College Football 27 with our settings guide.

Sliders in College Football 27 are used to make the best adjustments for an authentic and realistic experience both on and off the field. Sliders like the difficulty level might not be easier to pick, compared to the wear-and-tear rate or XP sliders that might require half a season of Dynasty to show their impact in the long run.

Below, we'll share the slider tuning that you'll want to follow for a realistic experience, differing from the default settings and to help you avoid annoying incidents that might ruin your fun.

Best General Gameplay Options in College Football 27

  • Passing Type: Revamped Passing
  • Passing Slowdown: Off
  • Pass Lead Increase: Small
  • AI WR for User Teams: On
  • Timing Based Catching Min Throw Distance for Offense/Defense: Off
  • Defensive Ball Hawk: On
  • Defensive Heat Seeker Assist: On
  • Switch Stick Delay: Slight
  • Defensive Switch Assist: On

To find the options above, head to the Settings in the main menu, then select Game Settings, and scroll down the Game Options tab. To change these settings only for Dynasty mode, switch to the Dynasty Central tab in your Dynasty hub, and you will find them all under Game Options again.

For Passing Type, we strongly suggest Revamped Passing if you want the ratings to play a crucial role in catching rather than the player's skill. These are two different approaches. If you want an authentic experience where good players play well, and weak players miss more often, then you should let the ratings decide the match outcome. That's why Revamped Passing or Classic are highly recommended.

However, if you want the player's skill to dictate the game, then go with Placement & Accuracy. Of course, rating still plays a role here, but a seasoned player can still send superb passes to weaker players if they have already mastered the game's mechanics.

AI WR for User Teams only allows the AI to intervene when you don't enter any input to catch the ball, whether on offense or defense. So, you can turn it off if you want a more punishing experience, but turning it on doesn't matter either, assuming that players usually insert catching inputs.

Defensive Ball Hawk and Defensive Heat Seeker will help the defenders move in the right direction automatically, whether they are supposed to catch the ball or tackle the ball carrier. We have this set to "on" because it takes a lot of practice to master catching mechanics without them. You can still turn them off if you feel confident enough, but that will make controlling defense very difficult. So, try it on a Play Now match before starting a Dynasty with it.

Switch Stick Delay determines a window of input pause right after the snap. Before the snap, you can make adjustments to your defensive players with the right stick, but when the snap happens, the right stick will be used to switch the defensive players. If you set it to None, the right stick will immediately switch players as soon as the snap happens. Since it's a bit difficult to recognize the snap at the moment it happens, it's best to have this setting on Slight to cover the tiny human error.

Defensive Switch Assist is another AI-driven feature that lets you direct the defender you just switched to with less error. It performs similarly to the Switch Stick Delay. For a brief moment, the AI will direct the defender to prevent any sudden, unwanted steering.

The first options for Coin Toss are in the User Settings menu of the Dynasty Central tab. If you choose Kick as your first toss, and you win it, this guarantees that you will receive the ball at the start of the second half. And it's way more important to have the ball in the latter half of the game.

If you win your second choice, again, you will have an advantage in the latter half, as you will play with wind in the 4th quarter, which helps a lot with the kicks.

For difficulty level, I recommend All-American if you want a middle ground. Playing at Heisman in Dynasty can be a little frustrating at the beginning, especially if you are not a seasoned player of the College Football series. We suggest you begin with All-American if you are playing against the CPU, and once you get the hang of the mode, start a new one at Heisman difficulty level.

For Coach XP Speed, both Career and Simulation are recommended. Simulation will take longer to progress, and it will take a lot of character to join the top coaches in the league. However, Career will mostly focus on building a good program. You won't become the best coach in a single season, but it is still faster than Simulation, and you can join bigger teams after having a few successful seasons.

Recruit Flipping is a new option that enables a new feature in the transfer process. Unlike previous years, there is a new stage between Top 3 and Hard Commit, known as Verbal Commitment. The team that stands in first place in the Top 3 stage will benefit from a bonus influence multiplier for their actions. This bonus is 25% by default, but we have raised it to 30% to make it more valuable, actually encouraging you to try reaching Verbal Commitment.

Verbal Commitment does not guarantee the transfer. The other two teams still have the chance to flip the table and gain the Verbal Commitment for themselves by submitting stronger actions.

If you want to have the older transfer system, you can turn off the Recruit Flipping. But do note that it won't bring back the Top 8 stage, as it's been removed from College Football 27.

Quarter Length is a personal adjustment that depends on how much time you have for playing. If you want to simulate real life, go for 15 minutes. But if you think that's too much, 10 or 12 minutes would be great. Anything below 10 minutes hurts the authentic feeling of the game unless you are short on your free time.

For Kick Control, you are strongly recommended to select Tap and Hold. Holding down the button to set the power of the shot is easier than a single press. It lowers the chances of unwanted errors significantly. Kicks are quite important in the game, and you don't want to miss a chance to extend the lead with a weaker control scheme.

As mentioned above, Coach Mode is also optional. If you enable it, most of the settings I have talked about earlier will not matter anymore, as you will just control the team off the field with no control over the players individually.

For the Wear and Tear, I have tuned down almost every single wearing metric from 50, as you generally get more injuries than what is expected in Dynasty mode. This will help to make injuries happen at a more realistic frequency. I have also readjusted the recovery sliders to match the new injury settings. Halftime Recovery now contributes more to gaining your energy back.

User Player Transfer Chance indicates the chances of losing your players in the transfer window. This happens a lot during the End of the Season Recap. A significant number of players try to leave, especially if they have had a stellar performance throughout the season, and your team is not a 5-star school. Lowering this metric to 45 will help you a little to keep your players. Having the same metric for the CPU at 50 will make it slightly easier to sign other players to your school.

Make sure to turn off Auto Recruiting and Auto Progress Players. The former is simply done because you would generally love to be on top of the recruiting process with no AI interruption. The latter is turned off because we set the Manual Progression Penalty to zero earlier. That simply allows you to manually progress players for an authentic experience without expecting any penalty for doing so.
