Plymouth Argyle manager Tom Cleverley has confirmed he will have a share of Lorent Tolaj's transfer fee to strengthen for next season.
The 24-year-old Swiss frontman scored 17 goals last season and was sold to Championship side Bristol City on Tuesday.
The reported fee of about £4m quadruples the £1.1m they paid for him from Port Vale last summer.
"We'll get a percentage of that money. Relegation [from the Championship in 2025] you sort of need to correct that financially over a period of time, so a chunk will go back into the club which is normal," Cleverley said.
"The priority of my job is to win games ultimately, but also - developing assets and footballers is a huge part of what I love, and which I think we are good at as a staff.
"He won't be the last player that we develop and sell, but we will be getting a percentage to reinvest in the team, and we're hoping we do that very quickly."
Tolaj's highly-rated strike partner Bim Pepple, 23, is also attracting interest from other clubs following his 18 goals in all competitions last season.
Cleverly has confirmed there have been no firm offers and is keen to hang on to him.
"Bim's working hard and is as motivated as ever. He's been excellent this pre-season, and we're happy that he's ours."
