Digits will provide the platform and technology while CLA will deliver the expertise to shape and train the model.

US-based accounting and professional services company CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) is set to use Digits’ AI-native accounting platform to develop and train a “proprietary firm model”.

Under the arrangement, Digits will supply its platform and model-training technology while CLA will contribute the technical expertise needed to shape and train the model.

Both companies plan to roll out CLA-trained AI capabilities to current and future clients over the next three years.

Digits founder and CEO Jeff Seibert said: “Business owners depend on their accountants for financial judgment, guidance, and peace of mind.

“And few firms deliver on that with the scale, tenure, and client empathy that CLA brings.

“By encoding decades of judgment and knowledge into a firm model that benefits clients, Digits empowers CLA’s professionals to spend their time where it matters most.”

According to the entities, CLA’s proprietary AI is trained solely on its own client base and internal workflows.

Each transaction reviewed, categorised, or corrected by CLA clients and professionals within the Digits platform aims to further refine the underlying intelligence.

CLA CEO Jen Leary said: “This moment demands a clear point of view: AI should not belong only to the biggest companies and the biggest firms with the largest budgets.

“It should reach the people who power the heartbeat of the country, who create jobs, serve communities, and move America forward.

“Together, we’re going to deliver on the promise of AI-native accounting.”

CLA will initially introduce the AI capabilities to clients in its Client Accounting and Advisory Services (CAAS) practice, offering it as an option within existing CAAS service levels.

Earlier this year, CLA boosted its technology advisory capabilities by bringing in Answerport team.
