The electric hot hatch now sits in Band One of the incentive, which means customers can now save the full £3,750 off the car’s list price.

The Abarth 500e has become the latest EV to be eligible for the government’s maximum £3,750 Electric Car Grant incentive.

Customers who order the electric hot hatch can now benefit from the car sitting in Band One of the scheme, reducing the starting price down to £24,245 for the standard hardtop model.

The Abarth 500e Convertible also receives a £3,750 price cut, with the model now coming in at £27,245.

Underneath, the car is equipped with a 42kWh battery pack and an electric motor which produce a combined 150bhp and 235Nm of torque. It can also travel up to a claimed 164 miles between charges.

Thanks to the car’s 85kW DC rapid-charging capabilities, a 10 to 80 per cent top-up can be completed in 25 minutes.

In terms of standard equipment, all cars come with LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a six-speaker sound system. Move up to the top-of-the-range Turismo car at £26,245, after the ECG discount, and it boasts Alcantara sports bucket seats and a sound generator that can mimic an engine note.

It now joins its stablemate – the Fiat 500e – in qualifying for the full discount via the Electric Car Grant.

The Abarth 500e and 500e Convertible with the ECG savings are available to order now with deliveries expected to commence later this year.
