Great beans? Check. Filtered water? Check. Now ask yourself: Do you have a good grinder? Grind size has a huge impact on coffee flavor (and that’s according to experts), and shoppers say this precision burr grinder from Krups “really does make your coffee taste better.” Right now,the 12-setting version is 48% off (our trackers show it normally sells for around $75), while the 18-setting model is down 39%. This may be “the best kept secret” for making a tasty batch of brewed coffee.
This grinder has a built-in hopper for storage, plenty of grind settings and, probably best of all, it’s easy to clean.
Both versions of this Krups grinder have bean hoppers attached, so you can store your bag of coffee beans inside of it and clear off that counter space. They also come packaged with a tiny cleaning brush to sweep away dust and grounds from inside the machine. It’s easy to take apart and wipe as needed.
The difference between both machines is just in grind options: one has 12 settings and the other has 18. The higher the number, the more coarse the grind. Typically, finer grind is reserved for Turkish presses and espresso, medium is for regular drip coffee and higher is for French press.
Just turn the knob to your grind preference, place its stainless steel canister underneath it and press the “on” button. It’ll automatically start grinding your beans straight from the hopper, and turn off as soon as it’s finished.
Make no mistake: grinding your own beans is an important step to a fresh cup.
As Sumi Ali, co-founder of YES PLZ Coffee, once told HuffPost’s Raj Punjabi and Noah Michelson, co-hosts of HuffPost’s “Am I Doing It Wrong?” podcast, grinding those beans is the best way to make the exact cup of coffee you want: “You can control how fine you want the coffee. If you want your coffee a little stronger, you can grind it a little finer. Or maybe it tastes a little bitter, so you can go a little coarser.
“Grinding fresh makes a huge difference — it’s going to be way more aromatic,” Ali said. “The flavors are going to be way more pronounced — even if you’re smashing beans with a hammer in a bag, do that over pre-ground if you can.”
If you’re buying pre-ground coffee from a grocery store, you’re likely drinking stale coffee that’s been sitting on store shelves for months. That flavor can be harsh and smoky. Coffee also starts to lose its flavor within minutes of being ground. Why settle with that cup?

“We bought this after Costco got rid of their grinder (we like their whole bean selection & so much more affordable than the grocery). I looked for a while before landing on this one. The coffee really does taste better with freshly ground beans and my husband even said the same (he is as no-fuss as they come). I like how much coffee you can grind at one time (12 cups), how many beans the hopper holds (I just leave the beans in there between grinding so I don’t have to refill it daily), and it’s not too big where it takes up a ton of space on the counter- we leave it out. The grounds go into a rounded catch basin which fits perfectly in my target coffee canister so I can pour it right in (a benefit I didn’t even know I needed). It makes noise like you’d expect but not too loud— if anything, the noise is a happy reminder that delicious coffee is coming. You can change the grind size, but we leave on the drip coffee setting which is perfect. I haven’t had any problems with clogging – it works really well – I can’t imagine anything better. And this is certainly durable, I see us using it for years to come.” — WorkingMomOfFive

“I never thought I’d fall in love with an appliance, but here we are. The KRUPS Burr Grinder has become the MVP of my mornings, turning my groggy pre-coffee self into a caffeinated champion. It grinds like a pro, ensuring that my coffee is fresh, flavorful, and just the right consistency every single time. Honestly, it’s like having a barista in my kitchen—minus the man bun and ironic tattoos.
Setup is a breeze. The settings are easy to adjust, whether you’re brewing a robust espresso or a smooth French press. It’s versatile, consistent, and, most importantly, quieter than my old grinder, which sounded like a jet engine warming up for takeoff. My neighbors are probably as grateful as I am.
What I love most is how simple it is to clean. No more battling rogue coffee grounds that seem to appear out of thin air. KRUPS keeps the mess contained and my counters crumb-free, which is a small miracle in itself.
If you’re a coffee enthusiast—or just someone who needs caffeine to humanize in the morning—this grinder is worth every penny. It’s dependable, efficient, and dare I say… grind-tastic. KRUPS has definitely upped my coffee game, and for that, I salute it (with a steaming mug of freshly ground coffee, of course).
Bottom line: Buy it. Your taste buds (and sanity) will thank you. Cheers to fresh mornings and even fresher coffee! ☕✨” — Kevin Barry Maguire
“This is, without any doubt or equivocation, the finest grinder that I have ever owned. It is certainly a tremendous value especially at the sale price at which I purchased the item. […] There are settings for volume of bean to be ground in order to meet the liquid demands, and enough settings to grind the beans precisely as I like them. This setting, obviously, will be determined by the coffee blend as well as the apparatus that is employed to tackle this task. Along with the preferential whims of the human behind the magic!! Quality coffee brewing is NOT a task for the faint at heart. […] I no longer subscribe to the old men’s tales that the consumption of a combination of slices of hockey puck look’n toast, dipped into a 12 oz. cauldron of spoon dissolving coffee, that has the same color, flavor, and texture as the aforementioned toast, will put hair on my chest. […] As well designed and crafted as this grinder is, again, I genuinely believe that it is going to outlast me!! Hence, it will be welcome an appropriate comrade to accompany the KOFFEE tamper that I use to PACK the grounds into the filter.
The end result of this entire process is DARK STRONG, BLACK, HOT KOFFEE!!
Yep, and it all starts with, and depends upon, my trusty Krups Precision Flat Burr Grinder :)” — Chuck (This review has been edited for length. Read the full review.)
